In second grade at Sauganash School we learn about the music of various cultures around the world, including such countries as Germany, Israel, Japan, Ireland, Australia and Mexico.
As part of this learning we incorporate listening and identifying unique and traditional instruments that are used in the music of these cultures, such as the Australian didjeridoo, the Irish uillean pipes or the Japanese koto. These instruments are part of what gives the music of a given culture it's unique sound but since these instruments aren't often available to a teacher, there is a wonderful tool known as "Youtube" which can allow us to see these interesting instruments as well as watch them being played by experts. Below is a playlist from Youtube which you can use to see, hear and learn about some of these beautiful instruments from around the world. Enjoy!
